The Japanese printing of Monster Men used type mixed with sound effects illustrated by Nemoto. Nemoto's sound effects were often as much a part of the artwork as his characters and scenes. It was a challenge to convincingly replace his Japanese with English lettering. All lettering in the book was done by hand.
